Documentary Review: This Changes Everything

Review: This documentary was created with the assistance of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media to bring to light the bias that exists against women and girls in movies. Actresses with different career paths, ages, and reputations come forward to speak to their experience in the industry and the impact that it has had on women of all ages. It is powerful and infuriating to listen to the ways in which Hollywood has been unable to stop itself from creating bias and failing to represent women in a healthy way. Creating that spark of anger in the hopes of pushing awareness is what this documentary excels at. However, it has its flaws too. This documentary was directed by a man, making the argument for on screen women separate from those behind the camera. Does this change everything? Can it? Watch and join the conversation.
