Banned Books Week 2021
January 13, 2022

Since 1982, Banned Books Week has been an event that brings the book community together to celebrate the freedom to read, and the ability to seek and express ideas. It also provides an opportunity to reflect on past and current attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. Amidst the pandemic, physical closures, and the increased online services and activities of 2020, libraries saw more than 273 books impacted by censorship attempts with challenges to restrict or remove materials.
