Book Review: Ten Steps to Nanette

Review: Much like Hannah Gadsby’s comedic work, her memoir made me laugh out loud, then choke down a sob, and then laugh more until the two combined. It was a privilege to read this book, and to sit inside the mind of such a profound person. Learning more about Hannah and the world she comes from is wonderful, and brought a great sense of connection both within and beyond that world. However, the true luxury of the book comes with the ‘look behind the curtain’ and the deep layered understanding she provides the reader about how she constructs her comedy. This book is phenomenal on its own, but the audiobook with Gadsby’s narration takes the experience to an even greater level.
